Neville Bonner Primary School
Overview
The collaborative learning environments of this three-stream pre-school to year 6 primary school required a flexible electrical & mechanical design to allow teachers to facilitate an adaptable learning environment for students.
The Neville Bonner campus includes four classroom buildings, a library, general purpose hall, science, horticulture and cooking classrooms, general purpose areas, administration building and community use facilities. The classroom buildings were designed to be collaborative learning environments, where the teaching spaces could be open for a large group or compressed for smaller groups.
The project is targeting a 5 Star Green Star Edcuational V1 Design Rating. Suitable buildings on the site have solar PV panels installed on their roofs. The project includes an onsite community learning area combined with a similar area adjacent to the site.
Features
Full mechanical, electrical, communications, fire and security design and construction attendance services. The mechanical services utilised a Gas VRF system with air to air heat exchangers for outside air pre-treatment, reducing plant size and energy consumption, as well as improving system performance during colder months. CO2 monitoring and control was documented, with all systems controlled by a site wide BMS with full electrical (lighting & power) and natural gas energy consumption monitoring & logging.
The collaborative learning environments of each of the classroom buildings required a flexible electrical design that allowed the teachers the freedom to teach in the manner like.
