
In an article by John Thistleton of the Canberra Times it was announced that Brindabella Business Park was joint winner in the United Nations Association of Australia's World Environment Day Awards. This award acknowledges actions at a local level to address global environmental issues. Rudds was proud to be involved in the design of this venture which utilised the latest technology to produce a more greener, sustainable method in commercial buildings. Features such as reduced energy consumption, a stricter criteria for a wider range of greenhouse and other environmental impacts, including water conservation, material conservation, material selection, waste management, ventilation, day lighting, noise levels, and transport options such as public transport and cycling.
Brindabella Business Park was a winner in the recent Engineering Excellence
Awards. Rudds, Construction Control and Canberra International Airport were
proud recipients presented by their peers in the construction industry. It
shows recognition for the initiatives in the environmental field whilst placing
emphasis on energy efficiency and occupant health and comfort. This development
has seen the introduction of innovative engineering solutions such as shared
thermal plant, slab cooling, duct-in-duct technology, high induction diffusers,
full outside air, waste heat reclaim and advanced lighting control.

RUDDS congratulates O' Donnell Griffin in achieving top electrical industry award in Medium Commercial categroy for Defence Department's Russell R7 Building generator upgrade. Rudds provided both electrical and mechanical services in this technically challenging project. This was due to the tight confines of the installation area, factors such as temporary generator location and final location of equipment.
At the RAIA NSW chapter awards, this project received the 2006 ESD Awards
as well as receiving the institutes top accolade, the 2006 Sulman Award for
Public Architecture. RUDDS was proud to work with Bligh Voller Nield on this
project and congratulates them on this achievement.
This building was also awarded a 5 star greenstar rating
for it's interior fitout. It is only the second project in
Australia to achieve this and is now unique in being the
only project in the country to have 5 star ratings for 'DESIGN',
'AS BUILT' and 'INTERIOR FITOUT' categories.
The new headquarters for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet won Project of the Year and congratulations go to Bovis Lend Lease for this acheivement. The latest building and construction techniques were utilised to produce an environmentally friendly building.
