Rudds Consulting Engineers are thrilled to announce that they have been awarded the design package for the new IKEA store to be built right here in Canberra, the latest in a growing list of locations here in Australia.
Rudds will be providing Lighting, Power, Communications, Security & Fire Services design for the 25,000m2 building, which will not only house some of the most impressive items solely assembled by allen-key, but will do so sustainably, via a 600kW photovoltaic solar panel installation on the building roof. Other key features include a high churn, high flexibility system requirement, an 800 vehicle carpark, and commercial kitchen, all to be documented via a fully three-dimensional Building Information Model in Autodesk Revit. You can read the more details and latest updates on our project profile.
The installation continues Rudds’ involvement in the Majura Valley development having already contributed to the Majura Parkway project, Majura Office Park, Majura Park Shopping Centre, as well as a number of other retail & commercial buildings around the airport precinct.
Rudds' appointment to the IKEA project is evidence that Canberra has the skillset and experience necessary to support international projects of this calibre, and a vote of confidence in Rudds' technical expertise as a locally owned and operated business.
