Project Overview

The Verizon Business Fyshwick Data Centre is a TIA-942 Tier 3 Electrical and Mechanical data centre consisting of 4 Data Halls each of 450kW plus a separate communications room. The data centre has been designed to provide up to 7kW/rack from under floor air cooling with the provision of chilled water take-off valves for in-row coolers to support higher density loads.

The data centre incorporates generator back-up for UPS and chiller plant, dual path UPS supply to each rack, dual path UPS back-up for critical mechanical load, dual path generator supply for essential mechanical load and chilled water storage. Air-cooled chillers are utilised to take advantage of Canberra's free cooling conditions.

Coordinated Design

Rudds Consulting Engineers were responsible for the detailed design and construction assistance for the electrical, mechanical and fire systems in the data centre as well as providing Verizon Business with technical advice on the suitability of the architectural and other services design for the Data Centre environment. In addition, Rudds Consulting Engineers was responsible for the planning and witnessing of the final overall acceptance testing of the Data Centre services.
